Who are we?

We are SJM Recruit – a Cheltenham-based recruitment agency – offering temporary and permanent recruitment solutions to a wide range of businesses.

We are a multi-sector agency, with a consultative approach, who place client and candidate satisfaction at the heart of everything we do.

Our directors, Sarah and Anthony, bring over 40 years’ recruitment expertise and have excellent local business knowledge, having lived and worked in Gloucestershire all their lives.

As career consultants, Sarah and Anthony share the same values and approach to recruitment, with their focus being on developing strong working relationships that provide positive results; an agency that is ‘big’ on knowledge and expertise but ‘small’ enough to care.

Sarah Mutton

In Work

I’ve worked in recruitment in Gloucestershire for the majority of my career and over that time I’ve helped a range of companies and candidates across a number of industry sectors, including sales & marketing, HR and accountancy, as well as general commercial roles, across all levels from junior to director level. I love working in recruitment; it’s a unique, challenging and very varied industry that I find exceptionally rewarding, which is one of the reasons I set up SJM in 2014.

I love detail and at SJM I’m the go-to-person for compliance and process, as well as looking after our sales and marketing stuff.

Out of Work

When I’m not at work, I’m usually found spending time with my family – usually ferrying children around to their various social events as opposed to going to any myself, although I am a member of a book club (or gin club as my younger son calls it) and enjoy the occasional run. I’m a terrible cook but am a great lover of food, particularly cake, so I keep on trying!

I love holidays and the sun and dream of having my own bolthole in the sun to go to someday.

Anthony Perez

I have worked in the recruitment industry for 20 years and have had the privilege to work with a wide spectrum of people; either candidates seeking employment, or companies looking to add to their team. Every engagement is unique, and every candidate has unique circumstances, aims and aspirations. It is very rewarding when you play your part in helping someone achieve their next career move or introduce a new hire to a company that flourishes in their new environment.

I have worked across a number of industry sectors recruiting for unskilled, skilled, entry-level, senior level, temporary, contractor, and permanent positions.

At SJM, when recruiting, I am service-led and consultative in my approach and when not recruiting, I am responsible for finance, and operations.

Out of Work

Like most people, holidays are important, I have always enjoyed travelling and exploring new places and countries, absorbing and digesting the culture. For me the perfect day would involve snorkelling and sunshine. The ongoing aim is to have visited more countries than my years!

At home, I enjoy spending time with my family and cooking, especially Indian and Spanish food.

I love sport particularly playing, watching and talking about football, and rugby, whether it’s my son’s team, Cheltenham Town, Gloucester Rugby, or LFC.
